Information about me
My name is Elaine Powell, I am a lifelong resident of Oxfordshire and I currently live in Didcot with my husband Tim. I come from a large family and have had the opportunity to help children from a number of different backgrounds, as my mum and dad have been committed foster parents for over a decade. I have a son called Joe who was born in 2003 and my latest addition is Leo who was born October 2005.
Why did I decide to become a Registered Childminder?
After having Joe I decided to go back to work, however I quickly found that my priorities had changed and that during the day I found myself really wondering what Joe was doing, whether he had taken those steps or eaten his dinner. After a few months I knew that I did not want to be working an hour away from where my son was. With a little help from my family I came to the decision that the best option for me was to become a childminder. I understood how it felt to leave my son with someone else, and how important it was to know that he was learning and growing, and to provide that knowledge and security for others meant that I could have the best of both worlds. I contacted my local Social Services Department who gave me the information I needed to set about becoming a Registered Childminder.
My commitment to you is that I want to provide your child with the warm friendly and stimulating environment that I want for my own children, and I want to encourage them to be secure and confident.
I am totally committed to the welfare and development of all the children in my care.
In October 2003 I obtained my Registration. As a childminder I am registered by OFSTED (office for standards in education) and adhere to the regulations under the children's act 1989 to meet the 14 national standards.
I am currently registered to care for 4 children.
